The personal
computer serves many purposes today. Gone were the days when it was used for
business excel spreadsheet or school projects. Now, it is used for browsing
kitchen recipes to binge your favourite shows to play the latest games. The
flexibility of PC has made it a must-have in every home. Earlier, we used to
work on PC for a couple of hours before switching it off. Now, it’s being used
throughout the day. With the multi-player online games, it has become quite
common to play on the PC for many hours at a stretch. Often, this leads to your
computer getting hot and loud.
PC comprises
of a lot of parts and components. These generate heat when being used for long
hours continuously. The well-built gaming PC throws the heat outside with the
use of fans. If the fan does not work properly, the temperature increases and
causes damage to the PC.
Few ways to keep the
computer cool while gaming-
·
Create better airflow
The best way
to keep the PC cool is to give more breathing room by not keep any objects
beside it.
Always
ensure there is nothing on any sides of the computer, especially the back. The
hot air flows out from the back of the computer. There should be 2-3 inches
open space on all the sides of the computer.
Don’t keep
the door closed while in use if the PC is inside a desk. Generally, cool air
enters from the front and sometimes from the sides as well. The hot air will
recycle inside if the door will be closed.
·
Clean the computer
The fans of
the computer help in keeping it cool. Sometimes, they slow down or stop
working. The main reason is dirt which is in the form of dust, pet hair, etc. These
all enter into the computer with air and get stuck.
It is important
to keep clean the computer fans regularly. There is a fan on top of the CPU,
inside the power supply and one/more in the front or back of the PC.
Turn off the
computer, open up the case and use canned air for removing the dirt.
·
Upgrade the CPU fan
Some
manufacturers do not use superior quality of CPU fans that wear out quickly. If
the fans have never been replaced, then upgrade them. The CPU is the most
expensive and sensitive part of the PC. This makes the computer more hot while
in continuous use. Thus, a new CPU fan will be a better option than the current
one.
·
Stop overclocking
Usually, most
of the people are not aware of the overclocking functionality and thus they
don’t use it. People who are aware of overclocking use it to maximize computer
capabilities to the next level. What they do not realise is that these changes
have a direct impact on the temperature of the CPU and other clocked
components.
It is
advisable to take adequate precautions for keeping the PC’s hardware cool while
overclocking, to avoid permanent damage to computer components.
The above recommendations can help to enhance the gaming experience on your PC and allow faster processing and better high-end resolution. It will also ensure that your hardware components can be utilized for a longer time.
